PACKING
LIST

What I’m wearing for 10 days in New York City. In late spring. When it’s still kinda cold, kinda sunny, and because I’m from Southern California, I’ll freeze. And also, I’m only bringing a carry-on. With limited space, the focus on a successful suitcase leans heavy on neutral tones, small pops of personality, clothes I can wear over-and-over-and-over again, and comfy walking shoes. Let’s pack.

JEANS

THE STRATEGY:

I’m packing my more rigid pairs of jeans. The more stretch (i.e., elastane) in them the sooner they are going to loose their shape. I would rather keep my jeans lookin new, no matter how many days in a row I’m wearing them.

SWEATERS

TEES & THE LIKE

A SKIRT

TOPS: LIKE, A BUTTON DOWN

ACCESSORIES

A WARM COAT

THE STRATEGY:

Teeshirts that double as fancy tops are clutch when space is limited. These cardigan tees from J.Crew go from day to night and beyond. So good, bringing them in both colors.

A CUTE JACKET

THE STRATEGY:

You only need one overcoat. I promise. Jack a cute lady jacket for a nicer dinner and call the a second top layer. Shoe-wise, it’s all about comfort. A lug boot for rain / real cold nights (love these Burberry ones, do not regret this purchasing decision for an instant), one or two pairs of sneakers for walking around the city, and if you must, a nicer mule / loafer situation. Absolutely nothing uncomfortable will take up premium space in my luggage. Oh, and I swear by a cute Clare V. fanny pack - light, hands-free, chic - what more can you ask for? Chic luggage too? Away has got you covered.
